How I Support My Clients

Picture
Rachel Johnson | Adv, Dip | MBACP Registered Practitioner
I’m Rachel. I support people who feel stuck, whether that shows up as anxiety, low self-worth, relationship struggles, trauma or emotional overwhelm. My style is warm, real, grounded and yes, we can laugh too. I’ll meet you where you are, but I won’t just nod along. I’ll reflect on what I’m noticing and gently challenge patterns that might be holding you back, always in a way that feels respectful and safe.

Tailored Therapy to Meet Your Needs

As a humanistic integrative counsellor, I tailor therapy to you. We’ll look at what’s happening now, what’s been shaping it and what might be keeping you stuck. We’ll go at your pace, keep things steady and focus on helping life feel lighter and more manageable.
Depending on what you need, we might use:
  • Psychodynamic therapy to link past experiences with what’s happening in your life now
  • Attachment and relational work to explore patterns in relationships, trust and boundaries
  • Inner child and parts work to understand the younger parts of you that still carry pain or fear
  • Trauma-informed stabilisation to help you feel safer in your body, slow things down and avoid feeling overwhelmed
  • Suggested practical strategies when useful to support day-to-day coping between sessions
I won’t throw techniques at you. We’ll use what fits and we’ll keep checking in so the work stays useful and aligned with your goals.

"Why I Love What I Do"

My love for counselling comes from supporting people as they make sense of what they’ve been through and start to feel like themselves again. As a cancer survivor and BRCA1 sister, I know how suddenly life can change and how isolating that can feel. I’ve run a cancer support group and I now work with people in addiction recovery settings, where I’ve seen the strength people carry even when they feel at their lowest. That’s shaped my belief in post-trauma growth, not forced positivity, but the kind that helps you make sense of what happened and find a way forward, even when you can’t change what’s already happened.
